We're excited to announce highlights of our 2024-25 season! Our October concert features the world premiere of Elena Ruehr's String Quartet No. 12, "Moving Shapes" alongside Ruth Crawford's groundbreaking String Quartet 1931 and F.J. Haydn's String Quartet in D major, Op. 71 No. 2.
Pianist Victor Cayres joins us in January for Shostakovich's Piano Quintet in G minor, Op. 57, which pays homage to the music of J.S. Bach.
Our residency at the Laconia Gallery in the South End features the work of composer and multimedia artist Scott Ordway. Scott has curated a concert to accompany an exhibition of his photography, Images from the End of Rain, which reflects on the aftermath of the 2020 California wildfires.
Our Kaisahan Initiative continues with our 2024-25 composer-in-residence Van Anh Vo. Her work The Odyssey was written "marking the 40th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War and explores the personal and spiritual journeys of the Boat People escaping war and abandoning their lives in the search for freedom with an alien and unknowable future."
The season finale ends with three lyric masterpieces: Mozart String Quartet in C major K 465, George Walker String Quartet No. 1, and Brahms String Quintet No. 2 in G major, Op. 111 with Steve Ansell of the Muir String Quartet and principal viola of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
